Yet again, Berkeley’s Congregation Beth El completed a roaringly successful fundraiser. This year year’s theme was “The Great Klasky” turning the social hall into a 1920’s Speakeasy replete with strong adult beverages, women in flapper dresses and others wearing snappy hats. Money raised will be used for youth programs including scholarships for Camp Kee Tov (without doubt, the BEST summer camp in the area), BENS (Beth El Nursery School), hebrew school and other programs. Many congregants and local business owners donated items for the silent auction–I donated a family portrait session.
Havdalah service started off the evening.
Dan Magid led the live auction where guests bid on fabulous vacations…and a fine vintage of Manischewitz Wine…circa January!
Following an amazing dinner catered by the outstanding Lucy Adhadjian, the talented Shamati band played a stirring set of tunes that got people out on the dance floor.
A special attendee was Rabbi Emeritus Ferenc Raj who is celebrating his 50th anniversary of his ordination.
So much fun and ruach! I was happy to be there among my community. (The blonde is not me…It’s Pam Nudel. I wish you confused me with her!)
I’m already looking forward to next year’s event. If your organization needs lively event photography, or you’re planning an event, give me a jingle. I’d be happy to help.
