It was Friday evening and I was getting ready to go home when the phone rang. “I need a headshot tonight. Can you help?” The caller needed a headshot for her grad school auditions the following morning for Yale and several other prestigious acting schools. How could I say “No?” I’m a softie for someone in need.
I think Samira put off getting a professional actor headshot to literally the last moment because she was under the delusion that her phone selfie was “Good enough.” So many people, like Samira, fool themselves into believing that they don’t need a professional headshot, when in fact, their selfie shows them to be less than professional or serious about their business or themselves.
So, she came in, pulled herself together and we made some gorgeous actor headshots with a variety of expressions and looks. Not only did I do a speedy retouch but I formatted the photo and sent it off to a late-night drugstore for printing.
While I couldn’t guarantee the quality of printing, I delivered a stunning photo which she could deliver with confidence. Now, it was up to Samira to pull of a powerful audition. I’m looking forward to hearing how it went and hoping to see her on the big screen someday.
