Believe it or not, I’m now 50 and David is close on my heels. To celebrate, we invited our A-list friends and had a combined birthday bash with a 1961 theme. We’re talking Mad Men, not hippie days. The party was held at our wonderful friend, Janice’s restaurant, Westside Bakery Cafe in Berkeley. Her food was outstanding and Vince sure poured some strong drinks. I could only finish half. Our family came from far and farther to join us. Thanks to Joey, Paul and Ellie who came all the way from Brooklyn. Mom, Renie, Dan, Arnie, Lois, Barb, Howie and Debbie from SoCal.
Since all my photo friends were at the party, I hired an up-and-coming rock star photographer, Alesia Miller, to staff the photo-booth. I must say, I usually hide behind the camera, but that night I had a blast hamming it up on the other side of the lens! Thanks to Jacob and Zeke for waiting tables. A note, no cigarettes were harmed in the posing of these photos…Great prop Avery.
Other shameless plugs for my friends out there who made this wonderful evening possible…Westside Bakery Cafe…oh, did I say that earlier? I sure did because I want everyone to know how amazing that venue is for parties as well as for breakfast, lunch, happy hour and dinner. Here’s some of the food…
Flowers arranged by Linda Snyder at Zuzu’s Petals and the scrumptious cake was made at Masse’s Pastries. My “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” hair style was sculpted by Dale Oxley Hair Salon in the Berkeley City Club where out of town guests stayed–except the 5 who stayed at my house!
Thanks to all who made this birthday a memorable event.
